Dogs have been a big part of my life for years. I’m a dog owner myself, so I know the reality behind the nice photographs: muddy paws, changing routines, strong personalities, odd habits, bursts of energy and the occasional day when your dog has very different ideas from you.
I’ve spent more than 16 years around medium and larger breeds. Over that time I’ve learned that experience is less about having one “method” and more about being able to read the dog in front of you and adapt.
Some dogs want to charge into an adventure. Some want time to sniff every interesting patch of grass. Puppies need shorter, confidence-building outings. Older dogs can still love getting outside, but often at a more sensible pace. The best walk is the one that suits that dog on that day.
Why “adventures”, not just walks?
Living around Southport gives us brilliant access to beaches, dunes, pinewoods, trails and open spaces. Where it is appropriate, I want a walk to feel interesting and worthwhile rather than simply repeating the same pavement loop because it is convenient.
That does not mean every dog needs a two-hour hike. An adventure can also be a short puppy outing where the point is confidence, a slower mature-dog walk with plenty of sniffing, or a secure enclosed-field session for a dog that is better suited to private space.
A service that has to work for owners too
I know dog care has to fit around real life. That is why Kay9 can provide regular weekly walks, one-off cover, out-of-hours options for shift workers where practical, puppy walks, mature-dog walks, home visits and enclosed-field walks.
Collection and return are part of the service, and the advertised walk time is the actual walk time — travel is not taken out of it.
Trust comes before the first lead goes on
Every new customer can start with a free meet-up. It is a chance for you to tell me about your dog’s age, breed, temperament, recall, routine, health, favourite things and anything they find difficult.
It is also a chance for your dog to meet me before I arrive to take them out. That matters. I would rather understand what your dog needs before the first booking than try to work it out halfway through a walk.
Professional basics matter
Kay9 Adventures is fully insured and DBS checked. Clear communication, sensible handling and your dog’s welfare come first. If I do not think a particular type of walk is right for your dog, I will say so and we can talk about a better option.
